I’m Bo Becker, but most people know me as Coach Bo. My journey into fitness hasn't been a linear line, it’s been a series of pivots, challenges, and ultimate growth. At 56, I’ve been an athlete in many forms: a swimmer, a cyclist, a triathlete, and a cross-country skier. Today, my own personal focus is on strength and hypertrophy training. Not just for the physical results, but for the mental resilience it provides.
The "Why" Behind Prism
The most important role I hold is as a father to my two adopted children, ages 3 and 8. Being a dad in my 50s changed my relationship with my health. It stopped being about how much I could lift and started being about how much energy I had to show up for my kids every single day.
I founded Prism Personal Training because I realized that many people in our LGBTQIA+ community, especially those of us with "life experience," are looking for a supportive space. We want a place to become physically strong while gaining clarity of mind, free from the ego of "gym-bro" culture and the unrealistic pressures of "toxic-aesthetics." I believe that by building confidence and striving to be the best versions of ourselves, we don't just transform our bodies—we transform how we show up in the world.
The Trauma-Informed Advantage
Before becoming a Certified Personal Trainer, I spent years as a foster parent, completing over 200 hours of advanced training in trauma-informed care (including TBRI, ABA, and more). While I am a coach and not a therapist, that background deeply informs how I work with people. I understand that safety is the foundation of progress and that consistency is a byproduct of feeling supported.
